Karun Nair scored a remarkable triple century in just his third Test match, showcasing his immense talent as an Indian cricketer. However, despite that historic performance, his journey was far from smooth. Over time, he faded from the spotlight and struggled to find a place on the team. Yet, his story didn’t end there. Karun Nair makes a comeback in Test Matches, driven by resilience, relentless hard work, and a determination to reclaim his spot on the international stage.

Despite his early success, opportunities became scarce. The selectors dropped him from the national side. Later, the Karnataka Ranji team left him out in 2022. This marked one of the lowest points in his career. Feeling lost and mentally drained, Karun decided to seek help. He turned to someone who had supported him in the past, his U19 coach, Vijayakumar Madyalkar.

This step marked the beginning of his journey back. Madyalkar didn’t just offer advice. He created a full-fledged training plan to help Karun rediscover his rhythm. Every alternate day, Karun practiced at the Just Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He faced 600 balls per session. These intense nets helped him regain his touch and build confidence.

At the same time, Karun began working on his physical fitness. Over time, he shed 10 kilograms and added muscle. This change improved both his stamina and form. Still, Karun needed matches to prove himself. He headed to England and played for Northamptonshire in county cricket. There, he scored a brilliant 150, a key moment that reminded everyone of his class.

That innings brought his confidence back. With renewed belief, he returned to India and joined Vidarbha as a guest player in domestic tournaments. In the Ranji Trophy, Karun scored consistently and piled up 883 runs. Later, he captained Vidarbha in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He smashed five centuries, including four in a row, a rare feat.

Karun’s performances were hard to ignore. In May 2025, after nearly seven years, Karun was recalled to India’s Test squad for the England series. His return was a result of determination and discipline. Through hard work, Karun proved that comebacks are possible even when the odds seem against you.

This journey also highlights the role of good mentorship. His U19 coach stood by him when things looked bleak. That support helped Karun rebuild both mentally and professionally. Today, Karun Nair makes a comeback in Test Matches, proving he’s not just a comeback story but a symbol of resilience. From being “internally broken” to earning a place back in India’s Test squad, his story is truly inspiring.
