The West Indies batted first. But they had a rough start. Indian bowlers struck early and often. Before long, the West Indies found themselves in a tough spot at 43 for 5. However, Kieron Pollard played a superb knock. He hit an impressive 74 runs without losing his wicket, all in just 43 balls! Thanks to his power-hitting, the West Indies reached 144 for 9 in 20 overs. Even though Pollard played well, most of the other batters could not contribute much. India’s bowlers, including Stuart Binny, who took 2 wickets, kept the pressure on throughout.

India kicked off their chase with Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa at the crease. Dhawan looked confident and hit a few early boundaries. But Uthappa got out cheaply. Soon, Dhawan also fell for 25. Then Suresh Raina and Gurkeerat Singh didn’t last long either. As a result, India were 82 for 4 by the 9th over. At that point, India still needed 63 runs in under 6 overs. The situation looked tense. But then, things started to change.

Stuart Binny and Yuvraj Singh stepped up when the team needed them most. Yuvraj made a swift 21 runs off just 11 balls before he was dismissed. Meanwhile, Binny continued to attack. He hit sixes and boundaries regularly. Importantly, he kept the run rate under control.

Then came the game-changing 12th over. Fidel Edwards bowled it, and it went wrong for the West Indies. He threw a wide, called a no-ball, and let several boundaries slip through. That over added 25 runs to India’s total.

After that, India needed only a few runs. Binny played a single to hand the strike over to Yusuf Pathan. Without wasting any time, Yusuf smashed a huge six to finish the match in the 14th over. India reached the target in just 13.2 overs. They won by 5 wickets and booked their spot in the semi-finals.
