Prithvi Shaw, on his bad decisions, opened up in a heartfelt interview, revealing how poor choices and distractions led him off track during a crucial phase of his career. The 25-year-old cricketer, once hailed as India’s next big star, said bad company and poor habits slowed his early growth.
Shaw opened up about one of the most difficult phases of his life. He acknowledged that he had made some poor decisions and had begun to neglect his commitment to cricket. He shared that his practice time had drastically reduced. “I used to spend almost half of my day on the ground until 2023. But after that, I started focusing on the wrong things,” he explained.
He also discussed how his growing fame attracted the wrong kind of people into his life. Shaw revealed, “I made some bad friends. When I was at the top, many friends surrounded me. I lost my focus, and my practice time dropped from 8 hours to just 4 hours,”.
The consequences were soon visible. Since July 2021, Shaw has not played for Team India. In the IPL 2025 mega auction, no team chose him. Mumbai also dropped him from their Ranji Trophy squad due to concerns over his fitness and commitment.
Despite these setbacks, Shaw is determined to take charge and make a strong comeback. He openly admits his mistakes and is working hard to return to the habits that once brought him success. “I’m on the right path now. I’ve gone back to basics,” he said. Shaw added that he has restarted the same hard work routine he followed five years ago.
Only a few people stayed firmly by his side during these challenging times. Shaw mentioned that his father remained a constant support, always there through every high and low. He also noted that Indian teammate Rishabh Pant regularly checked in on him, offering encouragement when Shaw needed it the most.
Prithvi Shaw’s openness about his past mistakes shows his increasing maturity and strong determination. He works hard and pushes himself to make a strong comeback. He is trying to rediscover his form and confidence. Fans of Indian cricket will closely watch his journey as he works to reclaim his place and prove that setbacks can lead to greater success.
