MS Dhoni on his IPL retirement

MS Dhoni on his IPL retirement rumors, once again sparking a lot of conversation. It’s a topic that never seems to fade away. As always, fans are curious about whether the legendary captain will return for the next IPL season or not. After IPL 2025, retirement rumours started getting stronger. But Dhoni finally broke his silence during a public event. However, he answered the rumours by saying, “You know, even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years.

During an event, Dhoni shared that his connection with CSK is something that will last forever. Further, He said, “Me and CSK we are together even for the next 15-20 years.” He also joked that fans shouldn’t expect him to play for that long. But clearly, he plans to stay involved with the franchise in some way.

Earlier, this IPL season, Dhoni gave a small but noticeable hint during the toss before the match against Punjab Kings. He smiled and said, “I don’t know if I’m coming to the next game.” Fans on Social media platforms immediately started guessing what he meant. Was he joking? Or was he dropping a retirement hint?

Later, during a podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Dhoni shared more about his plans. He said, “I take it one year at a time. After this season, I’ll have 10 months to decide. But it’s not me who decides  it’s my body.” Dhoni wants to listen to his body before making any big decisions.

Although he didn’t give a clear yes or no, this 44-year-old legend gave hope to millions of fans and the media. His statement suggests that he may still be part of the IPL, CSK team, either as a player or in a different role.

In the meantime, sources indicate that Dhoni hasn’t shared any news about his retirement with the CSK team. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming said they have been managing Dhoni carefully due to his fitness. This shows the team still values his presence and wants him to play, but only if he stays fully fit.

On the other hand, some cricket experts believe Dhoni should retire now. They feel he should leave the game while still respected and celebrated. Dwayne Bravo, a former player for CSK, has shown unwavering support for Dhoni. Bravo said Dhoni knows best when to step away, and no one else should decide for him.

After CSK had a tough season in 2025, Dhoni didn’t talk much about himself. Instead, he focused on the team. He said CSK needs to learn from their mistakes and come back stronger next year. Once again, he showed why fans respect him; he always puts the team first.

To wrap it up, MS Dhoni on his IPL retirement remains an unanswered question. Dhoni hasn’t made a final decision. He wants to see how his body feels and then choose what’s best. Until then, fans will continue to hope for one more season with their “Thala” on the field.
