Former players on Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Former players on Vaibhav Suryavanshi have expressed great admiration for the young cricketer. However, they also share a word of caution. At just 14 years old, this left-handed batter has become one of the biggest names in IPL 2025. His fearless stroke play, calm mindset, and sharp focus won everyone’s attention.

Vaibhav made headlines when the Rajasthan Royals gave him a chance after Sanju Samson’s injury. On his debut, he impressed everyone immediately by scoring 34 runs off just 20 balls. Even more surprisingly, his first ball in the IPL went for six. Just a few days later, he created history. On April 28, he smashed 101 off only 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans. At just 14 years and 32 days old, he made history as the youngest player to score a century in the IPL. The only player to have reached a hundred faster than him is Chris Gayle. Before long, fans and the media were dubbing him the “Next Sachin Tendulkar.”

But not everyone agreed with the early comparisons. Former India spinner and selector Venkatapathy Raju offered a more balanced view. He praised Vaibhav’s talent but warned fans against rushing expectations. “He is very good,” said Raju, “but let him first play U-19 tournaments, red-ball cricket, and domestic matches like the Ranji Trophy.”

Raju emphasized the importance of consistency. “One great inning is not enough,” he explained. “He must keep performing under pressure. Let him grow step by step.”

To make his point clear, Raju mentioned Sachin Tendulkar’s early career. He reminded fans that even Sachin had scored in Ranji, Duleep, and Irani Trophy matches before making it to the Indian national team. His message was simple: talent is important, but real success takes patience and hard work. Meanwhile, Vaibhav’s journey remains inspiring.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rise in IPL 2025 has been nothing short of extraordinary. From smashing a six off his very first ball to becoming the youngest centurion in IPL history. However, as experts like Venkatapathy Raju rightly point out, his journey is just beginning. Talent can open doors, but consistency, discipline, and gradual progress are what build lasting success. With the right guidance and a grounded approach, Vaibhav has the potential to become a future star not just of the IPL but of Indian cricket.
