The deadly welcome for IPL champions RCB has deeply shaken the cricketing world. During their much-anticipated victory celebration at Bengaluru’s M. The event, jointly organized by RCB and the Karnataka government, drew an overwhelming crowd that quickly spiraled out of control.

Deadly welcome for IPL champions RCB

Syed Kirmani, India’s 1983 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper, shared his heartfelt sadness about the recent events. He labeled the situation a “deadly welcome” for the IPL champions. Additionally, he voiced his concerns about how the nature of fandom has shifted so much since his playing days. “My condolences to the bereaved families. This was a deadly welcome to the IPL champions. In our times, there was no such media hype… nothing that could lead to such things,” Kirmani told India Today.

He suggested postponing the celebrations to ensure better planning. Kirmani emphasized that RCB waited 17 years for their first IPL title, and the event organizers could have taken a few extra days to arrange a proper and safe ceremony to honor the occasion.

He also raised concerns about the extreme behavior of fans these days. Kirmani wondered if those same crowds would show up for a Ranji Trophy celebration. He pointed out that while passion is great, madness can turn dangerous. “Back then, fans were passionate but calm. Now, especially with the IPL, the craze is unimaginable,” he said.

The heartbreaking stampede has ignited a nationwide conversation. People are raising important questions about safety at sports events. Kirmani’s powerful remarks have fueled that discussion.

RCB’s title win made history. But the celebration turned into a tragedy. Syed Kirmani’s comments emphasize how important it is to celebrate safely. While the passion of fans is incredibly valuable, we must manage it thoughtfully. Going forward, responsible planning should be a top priority.
