The New Zealand vs Zimbabwe 6th T20I delivered another exciting game in the ongoing tri-series. The match took place at the Harare Sports Club on 24 July 2025. New Zealand played brilliantly and defeated Zimbabwe by 60 runs to stay unbeaten in the series.
NZ chose to bat first after winning the toss. They faced an early setback with the loss of Tim Robinson, but Tim Seifert and Rachin Ravindra quickly turned the tide. Seifert came out swinging, smashing a rapid 75 runs off just 45 balls. At the same time, Ravindra played with great confidence, contributing 63 runs from 39 balls.
Together, they forged a solid partnership of 108 runs for the second wicket, laying a strong foundation for New Zealand. Later on, Michael Bracewell chipped in with 26 runs off just 16 balls, helping to boost the total even more. In the end, New Zealand wrapped up their innings at 190 for 6 in their 20 overs, marking the highest team total of the tri-series.
In reply, Zimbabwe failed to build momentum. They lost three wickets during the powerplay and couldn’t recover. Ish Sodhi bowled a game-changing spell. He picked up 4 wickets for just 12 runs, breaking the back of Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. Matt Henry also made an impact, taking 2 wickets for 34 runs.
Despite the struggles of Zimbabwe’s batting lineup, Tony Munyonga stepped up, scoring a commendable 40 runs off just 29 balls. He also built a solid partnership of 51 runs with Tashinga Musekiwa. Unfortunately, their contributions fell short as New Zealand maintained the pressure, ultimately bowling Zimbabwe out for a mere 130 runs in 18.5 overs.
Zimbabwe didn’t help itself in the field either. They missed three catches, bowled seven wides, and threw in one no-ball. Therefore, these mistakes gave New Zealand extra runs and made the chase even harder. In T20 cricket, small errors often lead to big problems. That was the case in this match.

With this win, New Zealand advanced to the final of the tri-series. It’s their fourth win in a row. Their strong batting, smart bowling, and sharp teamwork played a key role in their success. On the other hand, Zimbabwe ended its campaign with more questions than answers. They had moments of sheer brilliance, but unfortunately, they struggled to maintain that level of performance consistently throughout the series.
To sum up, the New Zealand vs Zimbabwe 6th T20I was a dominant performance by the Kiwis. Similarly, they outplayed Zimbabwe in every department, batting, bowling, and fielding. Zimbabwe will need to reflect on its mistakes and improve in future matches. This match proved once again that in T20 cricket, good partnerships, early wickets, and tight fielding can make all the difference.
