Cricket in India goes beyond being just a game; it’s a deep-seated passion that stirs the hearts of millions. And in 2025, India is all set to host one of the most anticipated sporting events, the ODI Women’s World Cup 2025.
The 2025 ODI Women’s World Cup, set to take place from September 30 to November 2. The tournament will be hosted across four prominent Indian venues: Bengaluru, Indore, Visakhapatnam, and Guwahati, with Colombo in Sri Lanka appointed as the official neutral venue.
Expect to see some of the best national teams from around the world, including powerhouses like Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and, of course, India as the host nation. The tournament will likely follow a round-robin format, leading into knockout stages, which promises thrilling matchups from beginning to end.
According to the hybrid model agreed by the BCCI and PCB, all of Pakistan’s league games will likely be in Colombo. This arrangement echoes similar hybrid hosting models in the recent ICC Men’s Champions Trophy tournament and ensures smooth scheduling while respecting regional sensitivities. This decision, approved by both the ICC and the BCCI in coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), allows the team to compete without compromising on safety or logistics.
India’s women’s team will play their matches on home turf, expected to draw large crowds and strong media attention. Key players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Shafali Verma will look to lead the team to its first ODI World Cup title.
Bengaluru will kick off the Women’s ODI World Cup, with India taking the field on the opening day, although officials have yet to announce their opponent. The city will also host the second semi-final on October 30. Organizers will hold the first semi-final in either Guwahati or Colombo, depending on whether Pakistan qualifies. Finally, Bengaluru or Colombo will host the championship match on November 2, based on which teams reach the final.
